Inventory & Online Sales Associate

Nassau, Bahamas

Company Overview: Melissa Sears Fashions, a leading name in Bahamian women's fashion for 40 years, specializes in offering stylish, high-quality apparel and accessories. We are dedicated to enhancing the shopping experience with exceptional customer service and a dynamic product range.

Job Description: The Inventory & Online Sales Associate takes our stock to online customers. Working with the Product Publishing Supervisor, you receive, unbox, sort and condition-check stock, tag and re-tag it with price tags, labels and barcodes, count it and record it in our inventory system, photograph it to our studio standard, write its web title and details and publish it to our online store, then pick, pack and ship the online orders it brings in. As the store moves to its new inventory system, you help set up the stock room and shop floor in their new layout, and keep both tidy and the counts accurate. The role suits a careful, steady person who likes doing a job properly and the same way every time, and who is comfortable with physical work. Full training is given.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, unbox and sort stock, and check the condition of every piece: set aside and report anything damaged, soiled or incomplete.
  • Tag and re-tag stock: put the right price tag, label and barcode on every item, and re-tag items when a price or code changes or a tag is worn.
  • Count and record stock in Odoo, our inventory system: the right quantity, in the right place, with the right label on every item and shelf.
  • Help set up our new inventory system: reorganise the stock room and shop floor into the new layout, shelf by shelf, so every item has its place and its record.
  • Prepare stock for online sale and photograph each product to our studio standard: dress the mannequin, then take the front, diagonal, side and back, a close-up of the fabric, the inside and the hang tag, from one spot. Send each set for review, and retake promptly any photograph that comes back.
  • Write and check web titles and product details: what the piece is, its colour, what it is made of (from the label), how it fits and what to wear it with. Publish approved products to our online store, with the pictures in the right order and every detail correct.
  • Pick, pack and ship online orders: the right item, the right size, packed with care and sent out on time.
  • Keep the stock room and shop floor tidy and the counts accurate: everything in its place, tagged, and matching the record. Recount when asked.
  • Lift and move boxes, and work from a ladder to reach and store stock, safely and to our method.
  • Look after the stock room, the photo area and the mannequins: clean, complete and put away properly at the end of the day.

Must Have

  • The right to work in The Bahamas.
  • A careful eye for detail: the right product, the right count, the right tag.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone camera and a computer. We train you on our method and our systems.
  • Good written English, for clear and correct product titles and details.
  • Able to do the physical side of the job: lifting and moving boxes and working from a ladder.
  • Ability to follow a set method the same way every time, work on your own, and finish the day's list.

Nice to have

  • Experience in stock room, warehouse or inventory work, including tagging and barcoding.
  • Experience in fashion retail, e-commerce or product photography.
  • Experience picking, packing and shipping online orders.
  • An interest in fashion, fabrics and how garments are made.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and growing with the business.

What's great in the job?

  • You turn our stock into sales: a rack reaches the people who walk in that day; a product page can reach thousands.
  • Help set up a new inventory system well from the start, and see the stock room and shop floor work better for it.
  • See an online sale through from start to finish, from the box in the stock room to the parcel on its way to the customer.
  • Learn professional methods: stock control, tagging and barcoding, studio product photography, writing for the web and online order fulfilment.
  • Clear standards and step-by-step training for every part of the job.
  • Room to grow as our online store grows.
